Ethiopia plans to plant 5 billion trees this year to fight climate change

“Like other parts the world, Ethiopia has also been confronted with climate changeand environmental degradation. Such effects have contributed to flooding, soil erosion, deforestation and biodiversity loss. Therefore, countering climate change … has been one of our key development objectives”, said Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed. This year, Ethiopia plans to go ahead with planting 5 billion trees to fight climate change and offset these issues. The World Economic Forum is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business, cultural and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas. We believe that progress happens by bringing together people from all walks of life who have the drive and the influence to make positive change.
